Hi,

Need some of your expertise please. Looking to buy a manual 2005 997.1. I would like to know what the difference is between a switchable exhaust button and a sport button, does the sport button change the exhaust?

Thanks in advance,

Kind regards,

Jonny

Yes it does. You could buy one without PSE which opens your options up somewhat then have a gundo hack carried out. That gives you the PSE sound permanently but without the option of switching it off.
Mine cost £200 to do. Bargain.

The sport button means it has Sports chrono regardless of what exhaust it has.
If it has both then the Sport button can incorporate both functions.
If it has a sports exhaust then it will have its own button.
997.2 have a seperate exhaust/sport button

IMHO sports chrono is pretty pointless apart from a turbo and everyone used to be obsessed with the ‘Dash wart’ but a lot less so nowadays.
Sports exhaust is a nice touch but I would rather find the nicest car you can in the minefield of 997.1’s and take the sports exhaust as a bonus if it has one.
It is certainly cheaper to get a PSE (£2500)fitted than an engine rebuild (£5000-£10,000) so would put things in list of must haves.
