Planning my first GP trip next year in Hungary.

Wanted to know if anyone who has visited can give me some good pointers.

I’ll be staying in Budapest and only want to go to the race day. Looking for some kind of package that includes transport from the City, some level of hospitality at the circuit and reasonably good seats

Thanks in advance.

I went for the first time this year and like yourself went solely on race day. Didn't avail myself of hospitality but instead took the following route.

Booked a taxi to the circuit upon arrival. Seemed to me to be the only logical way to do this as there are dedicated taxi entrances. it arrived perfectly on time, we spent about 50 Euros in total getting there and it took around 45 minutes to the gate and another 20 minutes queueing to get in.

Our tickets were at the end of the first straight. In 2018 almost every overtaking manoeuvre happened at that first corner, most of them at the hands of Mr Ricciardo. I understand that most paces happen here each year and given we also had a screen we were happy. It was really hot so a covered stand might be worth considering.

Food and drink was reasonably priced and plentiful meaning queues were relatively short. I didn't wait more than 5 minutes to get a beer or a meal.

We booked a helicopter back. Given the reasonable price (compared to other venues) it seemed like a luxury to take advantage of. The queues for a taxi back were well organised but would likely take a couple of hours of waiting around at the end of the day. Helicopter was less than £140 per person and I don't regret it. Took 12 minutes back into the city at which point a taxi collected us for the 15 minute jaunt to a local bar.

Of course if you do find some package with transport then you won't have to wait but the roads will still be very busy I imagine.

Great circuit - you can see a lot of it from your seat.
