Nikon D70 Lens Needed for Close Up Shots .

Hi Guys,
what MM Lens would I need for extreme close up shots of stock when tryin to get the best detail for listing items on our website ?
Can anyone recommend a lens to fit the D70 and prices please ?

Firstly, I'm a Canon man, so I don't know the full SP on Nikon gear. It really depends on how small the items are that you're photographing, and whether you need to fill the frame or leave space for text.
If you need 1:1 (lifesize) reproduction the I know the Tamron 90mm macro is up to the job...just look on SimpoTwo's website. HTH.

It's not a case of mm really but magnification. What size area do you need to photograph, eg X x Y cm?

OK, then I think you'll need a dedicated macro lens. Which is unfortunate as they're not cheap!

Nikkor 60mm
Tamron 90mm
Nikkor 105mm

Each of the these will get you down to about the size of a postage stamp. I have the 60mm and it was about £200 second-hand from eBay. The main difference is working distance - eg with the 105mm you're further away, which can be important for insects etc but not so for inanimate objects.

Edited to add that Nikkor macro lenses are called 'Micro Nikkors'. Don't be fooled by any telephotos that say 'macro'; they're not.

Me too!(I scuba dive as well) Trouble is I've never even heard of an underwater housing for a 20D+100mm Macro.

I know you can get housings for Canon digital SLRs, but they will be able to tell you how much. And they ain't gonna be cheap, wot with all the other guff you will need.

try lookign for a second hand nikon 105. either that or the sigma macro lens. canon make the best one
