What are these like? Fun, I'd imagine, but how quick?

I've always loved the way they look, strangely enough.

Do you mean the Mk2 CRX as opposed to the Mk3 Targa. I had a Mk2 CRX 1.6i-16 and two friends owned the VTEC versions. I loved my CRX - it was one of the best cars I have owned - quick, excellent go-cart handling, totally reliable and cheap to run. The VTEC had an extra 22 bhp (150), bigger wheels and lowered suspension. lovely engine note.
0-60 in the mid 7's for the vtec, 130+ mph

If you can find a good one, buy it...

The Mk3 is a bit softer, but has the later 1.6 dohc Vtec - 158 bhp. I owned the Civic Vtec it was based on and to be honest the handling was nowhere near as good as the CRX (more understeer and lift off oversteer). O-60 in the low 7's in this one.

Yeah - The Mk2 (boxy shaped one).

That's pretty fast!

Cool.
