Advice needed ............ Calais to LeMan

Okay, you have two options. Either the autoroute going Boulogne, Abbevile, Rouen (you're bound to get lost the first time), pick up the N138, Alencon, Le Mans. Gets you a good way there on the quick autoroutes then enjoy the N138 convoy, plenty of places to stop off for a break and watch the exotcia rumble past.
Or...get yourself a decnt set of maps & a co pilot who can read them & enjoy some of the best driving you'll have all year on the back roads.
Either way, you'll have plenty of company.
Option one allow 4/5, option two 6/7 assuming reasonable stops.

Just follow the Rouen signs till you get to the big tunnel the Le Mans is sign posted from there! Just remember the speed trap about a K or so before the tunnel
I follow A16 towards Rouen. Then head south from Rouen, you should find Le Mans sign posted. From there I would recomend staying to the main road rather than motorway to cut down on toll charges. Either way you wont be alone traveling from Calais to Le Mans, most of the route is taken up by British regerstation cars. There's bound to be a convoy or too. you should have no trouble. The drive to Le Mans is a great experiance. Make the most of it.
we skipped rouen last year - its always traffic and bumble hell - and went via Yvetot - bit of navigation required - but was loads better than the nightmare that is rouen....generally the A roads are loads more fun than the zzzzzzzzz autoroute plenty of opportunities to the motor rip!!!
Take the A16 to exit 10 (I've named myself after it!)- and then take the back roads.
Great driving, lots of twisties and a 10 mile straight too, the cops are on the case of the convoy, so you can put your foot down.
Super villages - stop in the market square of Lyons la Foret for a coffee/lunch. Beautiful countryside, but it tends to get blurred...
Only downsides are that you need to plan the route (will email it if you are interested), and you miss the fun of the convoy.
