Hello,

We have had a family off blue tits move into a dissused water pump, seems a little cramped to me!

Here's a couple of photo's I managed to get, D70 with the 18-70 lens, shutter priority mode around 750th.
I haven't invested in a bigger lens yet, so left the camera very close then fired it off using the remote control, pretty pleased with the results.

Little cuties!

I especially like the first two, seeing him in context and with uncluttered backdrop.

Forgive me, but I wondered if the second one could do with a little.....???

Yes I agree the first two are best, that green backdrop is much better than the side of the house. But the little cutties (buggers) kept hiding behind part of the pump so had to change position.

Have you tweaked the levels in that one? I did make minor adjustments in each, did you bring in the black pixels more?

Cheers

Three black pixels and one yellow one - that's all I did. Honest Guv!!!

In the interests of getting the bird to stand out to best effect, I burned in some of the highlights, took the levels down and then got selective. It may be that you think the pump has lost its shadow detail, but it's a subjective call as to whether it detracts from the main subject. Then, with the lighting the way it was, the colour didn't seem to be quite there in his feathers so I selective adjusted colour saturation and then re-sharpened (again selectively).

The bird does stand out more, you sure you didn't bring more than 1 yellow pixel in??
Can't decide which I like more, I want the bird from yours and the pump from mine!

kojak, just checked your proifle, nice motor! and the link to that web site, your tits are not quite as blue as mine!

Cheers Chaps.
