we had... (and thats had) over 6 greys in our garden. horrible things.. you know they kill song birds and raid nests and are genrally unpleasant little rodents.. well I put out a bowl of nuts thinking what a great pic it would be and waited... and waited..

went for a pee and what happened he was there and then ran off as soon as i got back...

bearing in mind what pests they are I thought.. I can solve two problems in one go here...

so I popped a round through his head and took the pic...

he has a kinda resigned look in his face..

Not nice, thank you. I hate the buggers too but not posting photo's of them.

i've shot my fair share of squirrels but I wouldn't post a pic like that! Hope you've got your flame proof jacket on?

Yet another example of man trying to live in harmony with nature! We're f***ed as a planet with a lack of respect or understanding for anything we don't like.

unfortunately in this instance the mishap happened quite a while ago and this pic only illustrated man's attempt to rectify his mistake. when was the last time you saw a red squirrel around (Getcarter's photos don't count!)? I've only ever seen one, and that was in Belgium, because since the greys were introduced from America they have kicked out all the native Reds.

I don't see how that picture (or the act of killing the squirrel) shows a lack of understanding - are they an endagered species? As far as I'm concerned is is MUCH more irresponsible to eat a piece of Cod next time you go to the chippy - now there is a real tale of lack of respect and understanding.

its a custom built anschutz.. very very effective.

and yes the predator that we know as the grey squirrel needs culling. its almost as responsible for the decline in the songbird as pollution and road traffic.. let alone the native red squirrel.

Do you think we can keep politics and animal welfare out of it and keep this forum to the subject of photography please? If I want a scrap I do my killing on the leftie brothers in P&P, not here.
