Hello Porsche lovers, I hope you can help me please?
My Macan was (mistakenly, and not by me!) left NOT in 'park' mode before lockdown, so when i went to move the car last week I found the battery totally flat of course, the remote keys wouldn't work and neither would the emergency keys, despite many attempts! Am i not putting enough force into opening the door?
So here's what I've done so far:
1 - removed the plastic key insert in the driver's door
2 - inserted the metal emergency key and turned it both ways to try and unlock the door, to no avail
3 - used WD40 into the lock (in case it had seized up!), no difference

I'm now at a loss and would prefer not to have to call Porsche out (can't afford a second mortgage!) and don't want to look stupid if they just simply used a bit more force than me!

Any suggestions pls? I wondered if there's an alternative way to open the bonnet (from the outside) to try and jump start the car and hopefully open the door (??!)

Thank you for ANY suggestions, very much appreciated smile

A quick Google found this:

Unlocking vehicle with the emergency key
If the vehicle still cannot be opened (e.g. if the
vehicle battery is flat), then:
1. Remove the emergency key from the car key.
2. Lift and hold the door handle.
3. Remove protective plug from the lock cylinder.
4. Insert the emergency key into the lock
cylinder, turn it 90° against the resistance in
direction of travel using a certain amount of
force, turn the emergency key back to its initial
position and remove it again.
5. Re-insert protective plug in the lock cylinder.
6. Release the door handle and open the door by
pulling the door handle again.
7. Switch on the ignition within 15 seconds to
prevent the alarm system from triggering.

And this:

Pull the handle out and you will see a black plastic tab. Pull the tab and it comes out to reveal the key hole. Pop the key in an turn clockwise, it’s quite difficult. Keep turning until you feel the lock turn and that’s the door unlocked.

huge thanks to both 'Twinfan' and 'cd1957' for your replies...thanks to you, i've finally been able to unlock the door (just needed to be more forceful!) and so have now been able to jump start...and drive straight to a garage for a new battery!!
Many thanks again, very much appreciated

I've found the key head is too small to get much force when trying to twist with fingers. Using a pair of pliers to grip and twist yielded instant results.
