Camcorder External Mic
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for an external mic for use with a MiniDV (probably Sony DCRHC90) camcorder.
The application is for in car / on track filming. My car is an open Westfield so when a camera is attached to the rollbar, wind noise completely obliterates the exhaust.
I see some for £100+ but this seems a bit steep to someone who doesn't really know what they're looking for.
The plan would be to tape the mic inside the passenger footwell.
Any thoughts?
Also, any compatibility issues with a Sony machine?
TIA
Cheers,
N :)

I used a cheapo dixons job for a while on the Caterham - connected to a sony cam - found it worked well taped to the inside of the 'boot' (stop laughing)... on the exaust side of course. I'd buy a cheapie and see if it works before spending loads of dosh. The average lead is also too short to reach the footwell.
BTW I had to find a 'soft' button on the Sony to reduce volume by 3dB, cos it was too loud and distorted.
Have fun

edited to spell dB correctly (you'd think I'd know that by now.) tut.
