Finally done, after putting another mechanic in hospital in the process. That's her second victim.

4 DBA slotted brakediscs.
TRD pads on the front
Black diamond on the back
Fensport braided brakelines
New fluid (obviously)

HKS lightweight flywheel
Stage 1 organic clutch
Brass gearshift bushes.
Replaced crankcase seal

The good stuff:
Wow are those brakes ever good. Seriously eye popping amounts of retardation available, and pedal feel is excellent.
Clutch grips like hell, and I've not bedded it in yet.

Bad stuff:

ABS still not functioning. I'm throwing in the towel. She has a date with Toyota and my credit card.

Looks like the new clutch is a bit too strong for my master/slave cylinders. We (ie 'they') think it needs to displace more fluid as you currently have to push the clutch all the way to the floor, and it will engage
hard within the first 2" of travel. Driveable, but obviously not right. It's adjusted as best they can, and if you sit with your foot on the clutch and in 1st gear, apparently she'll start to creep after a minute or so.....
- Anyone any thoughts on this?
Apparently there's a kit available, and it's about an hour to fit, that increases the size of the piston or bore or something on the cylinders to sort this out. I'll speak to fennies tomorrow.

Oh and, after a month of US spec slush-o-matic hire cars, god that Four is a properly fast car. Properly, properly fast.

Well done E old man
Sounds like good Gt4 abs system has velocity sensors as well, iirc doesn't it? Seriously over engineered/complicated bit of kit.I'm sure you'll get by fine without tho
So far as the clutch goes,& this is just off the top of my head mind.It is,of course, just a hydraulic push/pull system.Sounds like tweaking the volume/ rate of oil being pushed by your right foot, ought do it-as suggested by your 1 handed mech.

I've driven it since January with no ABS, and I've not had a problem at all. The MOT tester however, will fail it in its current condition.

ABS is nice to know you have, just in case.

Thinking about the clutch, it might just need a longer bolt to enable more adjustment......

I'll speak to Fensport tomorrow and pick their brains.

Nice wheels Mr E!

Regarding your clutch....i had to do a replacement clutch in an Evo 3 and that had the very same problem.
It was so bad in that car that the clutch would drag constantly....we tried everything, including shimming the clutch fork pivot to give a little extra travel all to no avail.

Forget about adjusting bolts to increase travel matey as it wont work due to it being a hydraulic system.
All that happens is that it shunts the fluid back to the reservoir and the travel stays the same....most annoying!

Think your on the right track with the larger master cylinder tho! Have fun..
