best head gasket sealant? iron block + alloy heads
had weeping head gasket for years (pressurises water system then blows out pressure cap on header tank when really hot)
Have used, Steel Seal, I think it was and was most surprised to find it permanently fixed it
Looking for best option for a more treasured engine (that is too expensive to strip / recon)
Not had fluids mixing so far, so hoping a good sealant should hold

Is this the same engine that has seized due to being laid up?
Are you really saying the engine is not worth doing a proper rebuild on? Looks like you are trying to bodge something. Apologies if you're not, but if you have a seized motor, head gasket issues and lord knows what else going on, then a complete strip down is the only proper way to sort it out.

I used Granville RTV on my E90 BMW after the VCG leaked. It cures pretty quickly and when I sold the car after 2 years it was still doing fine.

engine was in good order, laid up and assume rings have rusted in bores as resists moderate 10" wrench pressure to turn wit plugs out - usually turns ok like thatAre you really saying the engine is not worth doing a proper rebuild on? Stop messing about and bite the bullet.
