So in addition to making an essential component (without which you cannot lock the van) out of a piece of cheese then placing it right in the smash-zone of where you load things, ford seem to have also designed an exciting and wholly unesscary unobtanium fixing bolt. I'm sure their dealers do very well from panicked guys who can't secure their vans.

In the meantime is there something that fits this or is it a drill out? There seems to be a nodule inside, the outer section turns freely if I use a torx bit.

Van is 2019 transit custom FWIW.

Looks like one of these tri-wing drivers I use for computers/tech repairs (Y1 to Y4 shown, you may need larger)?

Maybe better to drill out the centre? Less chance of distorting the surrounding area.

Weird screwdriver kits (such as the one pictured above) are available on Ebay for a few pounds. Worth investing in for these very rare occasions. Makes you feel smug when you come accross some deliberately awkward screw and you have the right head to remove it.

Flat plastic trim removal tool under the very bottom part; lift it up and see if that 'plastic rivet' moves up with it; if it does, use pliers to remove or something like these:

Probably only used about 6 of that whole kit.

However, the smaller set I've used about 50% of them on different devices (laptops, Macs, HDDs, etc.).

Both were from iFixit - which are great kits for the smaller parts in computer/tech repairs - but probably less useful where a Halfords Professional set starts taking over.

they are usually soft as ste and round both the bit and fixing the first time you use it.
