I'm not a baseball fan but this man looks like a once in a generation talent and is now being compared to Babe Ruth.

Currently League leader for home runs. And he's a pitcher.

Worth a watch.

Two homers at the Yankees last night. He’s averaging .278 for the season, benchmark for a batter is .300 (getting on base 3 out of 10 at-bats), not bad for a pitcher

Incredible; producing good stats as a pitcher, and as a hitter........I'm pretty sure he led off in a recent game. I assume at some point he was encouraged to give one of them up, as we know US sports love specialisation, but this guy is a throw back, when more players did both.

I love to see pitchers batting - when they manage to make contact, it stays hit; Bartolo Colon's home run a few years ago......hilarious.

To use a cricketing phrase, he's an 'all rounder'.....

He's a freak - and I mean that as a compliment. Absolutely astonishing the stats he's putting up.....

They just showed the first game on TNT (BT Sport) 4. He’s got some stuff. Will watch the HR’s later

Injury has ended his season. Looks like he'll be looking for a new team, too.

Not a MLB watcher but saw the headline numbers for his new contract. Can you imagine the insurance on that? What if he slips and falls on a banana tomorrow? Does he get the $700 mill?

Monster contract. Great that he got his payday.

He's on his way back from injury now. I hope he fully recovers and stays fit. He's a phenomenon.
If he gets injured again, I assume he gets paid and the contract is underwritten somehow.

Could be the baseball equivalent to Jacques Kallis, could be a great batter and pitcher not just a great all rounder.

One hell of a bet against inflation; he's chosen to be paid $2m a year for the next 10 years and $68m a year for the following 10.

More of a bet on winning championships. The deferral will all th e dodgers to build a good team around him.

Financially he’d be better of taking the money but to win championships.. he needs to give the dodgers budget to spend.

Very smart.

He earns $45m a year from sponsors so I’m sure he’ll cope hehe

His reputation has been tarnished recently with the issues around bettings and his interpreter and then the home run ball…. Dodgers aren’t helping.
