The site's built in Macromedia Flash. However, there's nothing there that couldn't be done in DHTML as far as I can see (save the loading progress bar I guess which can still be fudged) which would give you the added benefit of being searchable by search engines.

Well I guess his potential audience will all be on broadband... but out of interest that homepage took 9 minutes to load on 56k.

Flash it may be - quick it ain't.

That's the other reason to hate Flash.

And you can't bookmark specific pages. But anyways, the guy can take a pic!

There are some new documented tricks to prevent this.

You can book mark flash pages and even view them via the back button. also Flash sections show up within the Browser History.

Previously if you pressed back the browser would go to the previous web site visited.

The technique is a bit advanced but worth learning.

Do a google for flash browser history or similar key words.

Back to the thread...

A great site that Gravy showed me a little while back. Must put "Large Warehouse" on Santa's list.

I'm not sure if it's that or the fact that the lighting is completely controlled and almost artificially in a way. I did think that many of them look very surreal.

Having spent yesterday afternoon with Tim at his studio, I can safely say that there is very little photoshop involved. Its all studio lighting, enormous talent, and 20 years experience.

OK, but to me they do look 'fake' somehow - the first thing I think when I see most of them is 'that's been photoshopped' rather 'that's a fantastic photo of an Aston'.

All a matter of taste I suppose but I prefer trackdemon's photos.

To me that's not the first thing I notice though.

For example, this pic from trackdemon's Goodwood thread

The first thing I think is 'colourful helmet, Aston, sideways', whereas if you follow the link in the OP and open the 3rd pic on the first row (the Aston) the first thing I thought was 'that's been photoshopped'.

All a matter of taste obviously, I think the still life pics on the Tim Kent site are much better than the car ones.
Hell, if we all liked the same stuff life would be very boring

Nige, your comparison is tenuous to say the least. Those two photos are so different they cant really be compared.

The only similarity in those photos is that they are both of a moving car which happens to have the same badge on the front.

Really? Hmfph.... must try harder on the natural look which is what I'm after... The colours are nothing you wouldn't get using Velvia.
Seriously, what is it about the pics that screams Photoshopped?

PS Thanks Nigel!
