Mustang oil cooler failure

My 2017 5.0 v8 …. Has suffered oil cooler failure….
There is oil in everything and looking for advice any advice to see if it’s worth chasing up Ford as this seams to be an ongoing problem with there mustangs?
No over heating no indication that something was up …
Until something just didn’t feel right … once pulled over it was obvious something had gone as there was oily water all over engine….
Any advice on what best to do from here much appreciated thanks in advance

Aha! I see the oil cooler is water cooled so failure can lead to a big "mixing" exercise. But wouldn't there be a light on the dash the instant oil pressure was lost? Or does coolant get in the oil sump and enable the engine to maintain "pressure" but with a distinctly non-lubricating lubricant?

Sadly a fairly common occurrence,assuming the car is now out of warranty you will need to get the car trailered to a decent garage who can strip down the engine and inspect for damage,there are a few Mustang specialists who have dealt with these failures,where in the country are you based?There is oil in everything and looking for advice any advice to see if it’s worth chasing up Ford as this seams to be an ongoing problem with there mustangs?

There is a Facebook group (simply mustangs UK) if you use FB join the group and ask on there as some members have been through the same thing and the specialists garages are members who can also help and advise
I’m up north scotland …
There was no indication that anything was going on with car.
I have read that this is an ongoing issue with 2016 models . And that Ford has picked up the repair on some of these .
Would be nice if Ford could do something as you don’t expect something so destructive to happen on such a motor and it’s only done 16-000 miles and has been serviced and well looked after x

Given the potential big costs to repair I would probably want to exhaust the option of Ford fixing it first.
For them to even consider this you'd need to get it to a Ford dealer though.
If they contribute to repair it's going to be much more cost effective.
However if they won't contribute then take it somewhere that knows what they're doing.
We fit lots of air to oil cooler replacements to avoid this happening.

If the oil cooler is replaced, coolant flushed/replaced and a couple of quick oil changes done it's always possible the car might be fine.
That does sound reasonable but I think the reality of hot coolant and engine oil mixing together is going to result in spun bearings, lots of engine wear or even a sized engine pretty quickly. My brother was paranoid about the issue so he had the cooler replaced before it went wrong.
You shouldn't have to do that on a modern car, there are no excuses.....do Ford care...probably not.

Have Used both as equidistant to me
