Bump Steer settings
Discussion
I'm looking for some information on what Bump Steer settings people are using, after a few hours moving the rack down from its original mounting holes I have 2mm toe out in 50mm off droop and 0.8mm of of toe in with 50mm of bump. I have fitted the Mac G bump steer kit so can fine tune at the track rod end if needed.
I spent a lot of time characterizing the resulting bump steer curves at various steering rack positions to determine the best compromise. The results are attached.
The spread sheet has three sheets. Bump Steer details, Camber Curves, Bumps Steer simplified graph. You may notice that there are two black vertical lines in the graph to represent the recommended toe variation limits that most normal drivers would be able to detect in practice.
The original left rear bump steer measurement (worst side) is also included. (the right side variation was less) After subsequent correction, both sides were effectively measured as 0 bump steer for both left and right side rear positions (Straight vertical line).
