Can someone please help before my printer goes out the window
Somehow between shooting and printing, the photos seem to darken 1.5 stops, I'm shooting RAW then downloading to Phase One, the photo on screen seems fine, image is then sharpened and processed as a Tiff file, if opened in PS it still looks fine, then off it goes to Epson R1800 via Epson darkroom.....hey presto, its S:censored:T
I know I'm doing something wrong but have no idea what, any ideas?
Monitor ICC profile set by Adobe Gamma
Phase one convert to destination, 16bit Tiff
Printer set to sRGB colour space profile
Camera set to Adobe RGB
Print method Exif/original (makes little difference)

I believe that someone (ehasler?) has posted lots of stuff about colour management before, but here's a quick bit of info I've picked up from reading a couple of PS books.

First thing I'd suggest is to download the ICC profiles from here

If you install these, you can tell all the software on your machine how different colours will appear when printed by your printer on your choice of paper.

Then, when you come to print the photograph from Photoshop, you choose Print with Preview. At this stage you can choose the ICC profile relating to the printer/paper combination you're about to print to. You then switch off the colour management of the printer driver and let Photoshop handle it all and bob *should* be your father's brother.

If I've failed to explain this as much as I think, let me know and I'll see what I can copy down / scan from Evening's PS book. Alternatively, if you haven't got it, I'd recommend it as it covers the whole colour management and correction procedure in simple enough language for me to understand.

I've never tried printing from Photoshop but my photoshop always displays darker than it should, whenever im working on a file I have to save it after each change then open it in windows to see what it looks like. Also it displays greys as more browny / creamy.

Very Annoying!

Cheers
