I'm after a Digital SLR type camera.. but not some £million super mega model... I'll probably be buying from eBay, something around £150 is good.. not much more than that.

I've found something that looks OK here|http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30012&item=7534986914&rd=1

I will be using the camera for a lot of racing events, so would have to be good for the quick shutter speed to capture the action!
Also need a decent zoom - the 10x Optical on the above example would be good enough :D

Please let me know what you think and if you have any advice?

Dave.

Have a look at the review here S5000 and see how it meets your needs. I'd say its a little old in the tooth (hence the low price) and probably won't have the response times you're looking for. Something newer would be faster, though more expensive. You might find the Panasonic Lumix FZ5 a good buy soon as its going to be replaced by a more powerful model shortly. FZ5 These cameras are well known for quick responses, good lenses and ease of use. They also have a bit more resolution and image stabilisation which you may find useful. Price is now about £250 delivered.

I like the Lumix models too. If I was hunting in that market, I think I'd get one. Excellent performance and nicely different, classy looking etc.

I have the Lumix DMC-FX2 that I always carry with me when I don't want to take the beast with me. Super point and shoot, and now available <£200.

I'd say take a look at the Konica Minolta Z3, 12x zoom, fast shutter speeds and very good handling. Styling may not be to everyone's taste but I love it. Black one looks better in my view than the silver one.

Have seen lots of results from one of these and they are very good, picture quality is very good and sharp and seems to cope with moving subjects well. Definatly worth a look

Even brand new they can be had between £180 and £190 so second hand should be well within budget...

Another big advantage is that it has Anti Shake which works really well !!
