Hi Folks,

I am reaching out to you as I hope there might be some interest here. Any support you provide, would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you.

So what is happening?

We have bought a private day at Santa Pod on Fri 13th May. The sole aim is to raise money for the Motor Neurone Disease Charity (the fund is actually called Motor Neurone Disease Association - MNDA). All proceeds above fees and costs go straight to the charity. Costs have virtually been covered by sponsors and key donators already before the date. So every interested arrival now, their entry payment will go direct to the charity.

The plan is to have a combination day. Not everyone who is a petrolhead necessarily wants to go on the strip. But then, some racers aren't there for the static show and shine. So to satisfy both parties, this is a day of racing plus a show and shine. Then people can decide what they want from the day. Spectators who don't really want to be part of either can just arrive, park in the public car park and attend both a static show and a race event as well.

So there is everything here in the petrol head world for everybody.

If we can fill up the day with 100 racers and a further 100 show and shine vehicles, we would be aiming towards £10,000 towards the MNDA. Therefore, everyone's support absolutely counts.

Why are we doing it ?

There is a team of 6 of us organising this.

2 of us were looking at something for a charity anyway way back at the end of 2021 and didn't know what. Then I was having some work completed on my car and this fell into our laps. The garage owner (who I know reasonably well) asked that if I could donate to the MNDA instead of paying him for the work done. His 22yr old apprentice (Phoebe) had lost her partner at the age of 23 yrs old to the disease in June 2021, following a short 6 month battle with it and has left behind Phoebe and 2 very young children who have lost their father to this terrible disease.

There are 1000 people who contract the MND in the UK each year and 5000 live with it today. There is no rhyme or reason why any one of us contracts it and there is no cure for it. It strikes at any age and once diagnosed, the prognosis is poor as there is no cure or treatment, as testified by this young lad who was a fit and able tree surgeon before he fell ill.

That spawned us to do something. Phoebe is spearheading this contribution charge (with the family already separately amassing and paid over nearly £12,000 towards the charity). She and her now deceased partner, James, used to love attending and racing at Santa Pod, you now see what the aim is and why.

It would be lovely to have your support in any way and that would be really appreciated. As you probably all know, it is a fun day out but this one is for a very good cause.

Please spread the word. The success of the day is down to the volume of people who attend.

Thank you for reading.

The link attached below is how you purchase the tickets. Please do spread the word.

And I need to pass on a thanks to Santa Pod themselves. They have been immense in assisting us, finding a slot in the busy calendar. They are providing the venue for this fundraising outlet and that cannot be understated.

Thank you.
