I'm about ready to upgrade my beloved, reliable AWD 2000 scoob to the big boys league. Any tips from owners? I'm looking at a 2004 model in Black (gold loys) for £19k. Are they as unreliable as people seem to be making out?

I traded my MY98 turbo for a 54-plate STI PPP in April & I've had no problems so far, save how to cope with the obscene amount of power...Subarus are generally bomb-proof.
Out of interest, does anyone have an economic solution to a stereo upgrade for the STi? I have been quoted nearly £500 by the main dealer to fit a multi-changer to the standard unit. Which is also obscene!

just did my stereo.

unfortuately the head unit and speakers are utter shit

did the front speakers myself £70 for infinities but you need to make some mdf spacers

had an alpine 9855r hu with ipod adaptor and a subwoofer all fitted for 100£ (parts cost 500)

sounds awesome and ipod is really the way to go.

Check out the deals on www.subaru.co.uk - I still have mine under warranty (they'll keep extending it to 80k miles and then negotiated after that)

After driving the standard UK turbo I think you'll find these just blow your socks off.

Cheers all. Smiffy - have also considered the P1 - is it really better than the newer STi PPP's??? I'm off to view a black PPP this evening...

Dunno is the honest answer - I haven't driven the latest STi...

But if you hotfoot it down to your local Scooby dealer and test drive a P1 then you'll be able to make the comparison. Having looked at the stats the latest STi is more powerful but the big winner for the P1 is that it's so light compared to the current generation.

Are Scoobies unreliable? I thought they were tough as old boots.

If you want an interesting Scooby then look out for an imported Spec C. 200kg lighter than the STi and developed as an Evo beater.

If I went 'Scooby' then that's the one I would choose.

Lichfield do a special of their own, which is apparently the dogs danglies, but it is eye wateringly expensive.

The T25,would also be my choice if I was going on scooby direction-& had the ca$h,of course!

Actually mate I wouldn't Know a T-zero from a ....erm.....T-one? oops:

The T25 is the gorgreous 2.5ltr Litchfield prepped model,mentioned by Rsvmilly above.

Fully adjustable suspension. Rated as 2nd best drivers car by Autocar. Only beaten by the Noble.

Hmm, interesting option but imports always seem to depreciate quicker, and are harder to sell - don't ask me why, it just happens! Took the PPP out for a spin on Weds night - wow wee... I am currently doing the finances - anyone want to buy my goldfish???

For loads of advice also check out www.scoobycity.co.uk that is if you're not a member already !!

Great site (of which I'm a Mod), loads of members on there who cover virtually the entire Impreza range, from Sports to Sti's, P1s and 22B.

Come pay us a visit.........

On the reliability front the newer ones are very reliable. Something like a P1 will be much less so unfortunatly, they are quite fragile in comparison...
