Having owned the car for 3 weeks, it’s time to go for a run abroad, cacking myself at the thought of grinding the centre locks on euro tunnel.
Any suggestions for luggage much appreciated , or do you just use soft luggage and cram it in ?

Have you checked the Porsche site. There are luggage sets that are designed to fit specific models....such as the
PTS Multiwheel® Ultralight Edition 2.0

and if you search for RIMOWA PORSCHE on eBay you'll find some really nice luggage they did in partnership, some being more deeper trunk shaped to fit certain models....such as

The Rimowa front boot case is amazing. I bought one years ago and never regretted it.

Eastpak for me.

I spent 25 years travelling the World for work and they are a great balance of durability and flexibility without shouting "steal me" or costing the price of a decent roadtrip.

Lots of sizes (and colours), good internal storage/organisation, 2 wheelers save your arms rather than carrying and compression straps mean everything stays put inside even if you don't fill it up.

Smart enough that they don't look "poverty spec" when checking in to a decent hotel either!

Tranverz and Transit'R ranges get the thumbs up from me.

https://www.eastpak.com/uk-en/luggage-c140/tranver...

Shopping around they are typically £100 for a "medium" size and £130 for a Large. Spend the savings on fuel and wine.

Have not done it for a while, but go on the carriages for vans and caravans and campers (not trucks). Otherwise it will be tense, particularly when the narrow bits come up you have to swerve round...

Eastpak for me too. Strong, lightweight and come in sizes that fit 911's & Boxsters perfectly.

Specify that your car has a roof box and go in with the trucks, etc. They recommend this anyway for sports cars with ULP tyres.
We have Eastpak luggage (1 small, 1 Med, butterfly syle bags). Med fits ideally in frunk, with room for small on top, plus other bags,
etc.
2 mediums would probably fit.

Thanks so much for all the recommendations .

especially the euro tunnel , been on there many times , but I am suddenly fearful of scraping the centre locks !

Off for a quick trip to Netherlands in 2 weeks, then in September we plan to recreate an old bike trip we done on the Hayabusa 17 years ago , French / Swiss Alps and drop in to Italy , 3/ 4 weeks .

Need to do the Simplon Pass again.

I always choose "RoofBox" or whatever on the Eurotunnel website - then follow the signs to the "Large" vehicle lanes.

I don't *think* it costs me more, but probably cheaper than a new alloy!

Never had an issue with Eurotunnel staff etc...

I ticked "roof mounted bikes" or whatever the option is called, but ended up hiring a bike in Morzine so didn't take mine, just drove the 996 onto the train behind the vans and so on with no one raising an eyebrow.

I like to think the Euro Tunnel know and accept what we're trying to do?

No one bats an eyelid

Quite. It’s understood and accepted and probably saves them hassle of cars being to low/fat and either getting stuck or loading/unloading excessively slowly.

Another vote for the Rimowa. It holds 74 litres. Porsche in fact sized the 918’s boot around the Ultralight XL case - it’s a perfect fit.

These guys do a soft luggage set. I purchased a set just before lock down and then never used it.

That looks absolutely class for a European road trip. My only concern would be the huge temptation for someone to break in for the bags. Just a little bit of caution to applied when leaving the car.

I have a white 911 (992) and bought a matching Rimowa that fits in the front. Lots of room in it for all of Mrs roaringopenfire's clothes and washbags etc. Dealer gave a 10% discount.
