For all those interested, and I know there are quite a few, had a number of first drive videos from some of the independent YT channels pop up on my feed this morning.

Enjoy. smile

Looks great. Would love them to package it up in something 3/4 of the size.

Bit of an odd choice of country to launch a very quick GT car in.

3.2 to 60 based on one of the videos. Will certainly keep a Model 3 Performance honest in a straight line.

yes

A few of my favourite channels covering a range of topics have succumbed to this as appears to be the way to get the most views unfortunately.

I think rather than 0-60mph for EVs is of little interest, the 30 to 70 time would be more interesting and give a true picture of how different from say a Mini Cooper SE the EV6 is.

A soggy Kia chassis with more power wrapped in an unappealing design isn’t exactly a dream come true

0-100mph gives a clue. The EV6 takes roughly half the time to get there.

This the only EV I would get rid of my Polestar 2 for.

At £60k I think it is a bargain for the space, equipment and performance levels.

Unless you really need the extra range you would have to be mental to pick a Model Y over this imo.

FWIW i drove a base model earlier this year and i wouldnt call it soggy - its no GT3rs but then it isn't supposed to be.

Its not that bad. Depends on what you are looking for, but for 61k, thats a lot of performance & features wrapped in something that looks different. For that, I applaud them. And dont forget, this is Kia.... the same brand that people laughed at 15-10 years ago! Thats a pretty big shift and clearly shows where they are heading.

I pre-ordered mine on launch day nearly 18 months ago.
Loved the look of the silver colour that was in the press shots, on Kia’s website etc and see all the vids out today are still in the same good looking silver colour.
Problem is, in the UK if you want that silver colour even if you preordered on launch day, you won’t get it until ‘sometime’ in 2024 so the dealers are saying.
I have a choice of either black or white only for delivery this year.

£61k really is a bargain in the current market when it comes with literally every option as standard.

The ID4 GTX is similar money and looks about £20k over priced when compared to this imo.

A decent spec Golf R is even a £50k+ car nowadays.

Crazy isnt it - good value is a 61k Kia.... thats not a phrase I was expecting to be using! But, as you say though, for 61k you get a lot of kit, decent inside space and a lot of pace. I am prepared to look beyond the slightly odd (in my eyes) styling. In fact, I am finding myself drawn to the South Korean stuff recently - the new EV Genesis thing looks pretty good and everyone is raving about the interior. $60k and looks great. Yikes

If buying cash perhaps but I guarantee if leasing or as a company car the EV6 will be more expensive despite the cheaper list price. Will be its biggest challenge to overcome if they want to shift them in numbers.

And are you sure a Taycan GTS wouldn't tempt you.? smile

The Genesis looks a lot better but I think here in Europe it would be difficult to spend premium money on one as they're just a nothing brand (for now). It'd be nice if they could infuse Genesis with a bit more driving ability as well which is supposed to be their USP I thought. It seems all these variants are very similar in that department.

I think my problem with all of this is that the Polestar 2 BST looks great to my eyes. That's a proper European take on making something sporty. Massively lowered, upgraded sporty suspension, lots of nice little design touches to make it look aggressive which is not easy on an EV given the aero requirements, and a big step up in handling to go with the looks. This is what I want to see more of. I get that Kia has realised that pushing up the bhp numbers, which is very easy in an EV, will be sufficient for many but I really couldn't care less personally and particularly not in the shape of the EV6.

Yeah, its weird - the prestige sub-brands arent a bad idea but its a bit of a mixed bag here in the US. Infiniti was pretty successful, but its a great illustration of the fall from grace that Nissan had here. They did have some great products, but now its just for people up-sold from Nissan products. Acura also did well in the past, but hasnt really moved things forward in recent years. Their SUV models sell well, but you just dont see anything else. Of course, the big winner is Lexus and its the one that Genesis wants to emulate.

They have done at least 1, probably 2 launches here and most recently have fleshed out their range with a bunch of SUV's. See a lot around and they seem poised to crack it, but a lot of lease deals will shift cars but not necessarily build brand loyalty. And now Hyundai are pushing premium EV's? It looks great and has a great interior and at $60k its a bit of a steal compared to others. I think they might just do it here - which will be a massive achievement. When Chevrolet is pushing the new Blazer EV at around that price, most buyers know that Genesis is the premium brand. Yup, I am leaning to Hyundai cracking it this time - but you are correct, that brand thing probably wont work in Europe, which is a shame. Modern Genesis cars and SUV's are actually very good.

On your first point - i would too.

Defo on your last point too

Tempting but I’m holding out for a Polestar 3.
I really don’t need this power and speed.
