Pardon my ignorance(cause it usually speaks for me)but; talking with a biker in work and he swears blind that you cannot be done for speeding on a road that you pay for the use of such as M6 toll and the severn crossings. How wrong is he?

100% wrong

Any road the public have access to, is regarded as a public highway, and the usual rules apply the same as any other public road.

And even if it was, it wouldn't make any difference. The law was changed a few years ago to extend motoring legislation to cover all areas to which the public have access.

If you are mentioning the addition of public place to drink drive, Insurance etc which can now be committed on a road or public place.

Road Traffic Regulation Act was not ammended and for speeding can only be committed on a "road". A very subtle difference.

But surely the M6 Toll is a private club?

You have to pay to get in, so it's a private place!

Sec of State, by Statutory Instrument, has declared M6 Toll not a private club but a Romeo Oscar Alpha Delta.

...end of argument.
