I live in a built upn area and have noted the ever increasing population of wood pigeons on local ariels. More to the point they're waking me up at 0600 hours daily!

I can clear them off with a weedy fishermans bait catapault loaded with raisins or dried peas. I'm not out to hurt them :) The ammo seems pretty harmless to me but would I be committing an offence if a neighbour complained about my dangerous antics:

Just do it

I had a pair nesting in the tree outside my bedroom window...after a couple of months of being roused from my slumbers at 5 am i got a bit annoyed...

The neighbours thought i'd lost it, when they looked out of their windows to see me hacking down a tree with an axe at 6am on a sunday morning.

There's a field full of trees just over the road. I can look at them and not have to bother tidying them up once a month

As for "Coo co coooo co"....aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhh !!!!

Not sure flinging food at them is the best way to persuade them to leave.

How cool is that "floating arm trebuchet"?

I saw a standard model trebuchet at a recent school open day (our son is going up to senior school next year, so we're looking at schools) and it was flinging tennis balls across a lawn, which was impressive enough.

Of course on Scout camp where we regularly made siege equipment we prefered to set fire to the projectile first..... Our record shot was something like 300meters

I'm usually up until the early hours of the morning as it is. No way do I want to get woken up at 6 by a wood pigeon. I also have to listen to the chirping of baby house martins outside the bed room wall. That I can tolerate seeing as I fitted the nest boxes for them

I usually find 1oz of lead shot doing 1200 fps does the trick. And wood pigeon breasts are delicious marinaded in lime juice and soy sauce, then grilled.

because that's at least THREE HOURS too early

crushed ice sounds like better plan than food....no evidence, no chnce of hurting them, no free food - pigeons are bastard clever...they WOULD learn it was food and you might end up with a chorus!

6 OH if only at mine. Surrounded by woods. So first thing about 10pm the foxes comeout. Then around 10.30 to 11 the bats in the roof go out for the night. Normaly dont hear the bats come back but on occasion around 4am I will.

Then the bit that ticks me off I have a Massive crow and his smaller friend that decide everything should be up at 4.30 They then shut up to got to sleep at about 5 then around 5.30 the wood pigons start then to the starling about 6.30 then to top this off we have a male squral thats always on the pull so he starts with his macho barking about 7am till around 9pm

If you can find a way to scare of the 2 crows and the pigons id be forever greatfull.

Whats worse the misses only ever wakes up around 6.30 and goes arnt they lovely and falls asleep straight away. While ive had my fill of nature since before I went to bed
