I can't believe that it is more expensive to insure a Mk 1 Elise with a 160 sport coversion, than a TVR Cerb.
I have just tried to swap my policy over to cover this revision and have been told my insurance company will not cover me.I am 38 no convictions, bloody hell what do they want?. Any suggetions.

Cheers

If it is not a factory produced 160 then your insurance company will look at as a modified car. just an excuse to hike the price as they will argue that there is no way to garauntee the integrity of the conversion, even if it was done at a dealer or specialist.

You could suggest to them that you get an engineers report done at the factory (if thye do such things?) to show the vehicle is 'safe' and within the design of the vehicle.

Other than that, hunt around for a specialist insurer.

Sorry, not got any names. But try a search on old threads regarding insurance.

" What do they [the insurers] want?"

A punch in the head maybe?

You could try a having it checked out by a specialist {ill post the name later} they will fully check your car and the vehicle can be given a fully legal/check thing.Once the vehicle is registered as fully legal and stable the insurance company may lower your premium because the vehicle is registered as Approved.

If all else fails do some advanced drivin courses that my take a lump off your insurance.
