It’s been a long time since I’ve started a thread on PH …

Who are the favourite specialists for TVR restoration/maintenance these days?

I’m in Glasgow and I’m soon going to be bringing an S Series over from France. I’m looking for a garage to give it a full health check and some general fettling en route. Brakes, suspension, alignment, etc. Could be anywhere from the south of England to all the way up here in Scotland.

So is there anyone out there who’s the preferred S Series garage with loads of experience? I’m starting from zero TVR knowledge, so at this point I need someone I can trust to steer me right.

It's a bit of a distance from you, but Barry at TVR Ecosse the other side of Dundee knows his stuff, he owns a few of his own smile

You could do a lot worse than Matt Smith Sports Cars in Norfolk, knows S Series inside out.

These are all great suggestions, thanks guys.

I suspect TVR Ecosse will end up being my regular garage once the car is settled in at home with me, but I might be looking for someone in the south of England for this first round of work. Or maybe someone around the NW.

I’m in the middle of looking at my options for importing the car. I either need to have it fixed up ‘enough’ in France to pass a contrôle technique and then drive it over myself (the cheaper option) or have it trailered as a non-runner (in which case it would save me quite a lot of money to have it delivered to a south of England garage rather than all the way up to Glasgow).

I'm based south of Glasgow and have used Kenneth Brown Engineering (Hillington Ind Est) for my Cerb for many years. He deals with many exotics and has a reputation for being a geometry expert in suspension.

Would be worth giving him a call to discuss your requirements.

Let’s go with ‘unusual’.

I have used X Works for my Griff for many years and they have always been very good. They have had quite a few Ss in for various types of work, some being pretty full restorations and others not being so full on. I do know that they get cars from Scotland regularly for all sorts of work so they could certainly help you if you wanted. Well worth speaking to.

If it is 'en route' then this would be my advice. Mat can peddle an S quite efficiently too, ask the 'big V8' guys at Donnington biglaugh Otherwise TVR Ecose would seem more sensible for future relations. Assuming the car makes it biggrin
