I recently bought a cheap VXR8 (6.2 manual 110k miles). The engine light was on when I bought the car but has since turned off, it has a missfire/hesitation between 3000 and 4000rpm so far all I have done is the spark plugs and leads (AC Delco oe). The only codes were fuel trim to rich bank 1 and 2. Any ideas what I should replace next? I’ll be doing the oil and filter next time I’m home but I can’t see that being related.

Since buying the car the ABS/stability control lights have come on with no fault codes. The speedo briefly stopped working but has been fine since.

It’s a lovely car other wise, I’ve already taken it on a small road trip across Belgium and aside from the above issues it’s been spot on.

These cars are sensitive to battery voltage , if the alternator or battery is on its way out could be the issue , there is an engineering mode on your steering wheel have a toggle through it see if the battery is the issue as it says battery life

I’ll have a look next time I’m home, the car starts no problem after sitting for 2 weeks so I imagine that the battery is fine

Lights do not come on without codes. If the light is on, there will be codes.

And don't change parts at random, diagnose the issue.

If there is an issue with fuel mixtures, find out why, don't fire the parts cannon

Easier said than done, I work away at the moment, home for 2 weekends per month at random with short notice.
