Struggling to sell my Bentley

Hi all

I posted an ad on here a month ago or so listing my Bentley but nothing . Does it take a while on here to sell cars ? I have advertised also on Facebook (nothing) , gumtree ( nothing ) eBay (had stupid bids) just wanted to get some advice as to where I might be going wrong . I’m willing to negotiated etc but it’s being months and nothing really .

Unfortunately there is almost only ever one answer to this situation.

It’s too expensive.


Try We buy any Car and Motoway to get an idea of trade values.

If you asking 10% more than they are willing to pay I’d suggest it’s too expensive.


Other options to get it sold are eBay motors, Autotrader and collecting cars auction.

It’s valued at 20k. I have listed it for lower than that and am prepared to take 15k, that’s well below market value. Do you think that it’s till too expensive ? I’m only going by what Bentley dealers have told me and auto trader valuations etc. it’s also low image at 61,500.

I would imagine it's a combo of things; firstly the current squeeze on many peoples' finances is kicking in and secondly it sounds like it's in that awkward space where it's cheap enough for someone to buy but potentially expensive to run. Anyone considering a Bentley might be tempted to get something dearer but avail themselves of financing or buying from a dealer where they have warranty/comeback in the event of a costly borkage perhaps?

Try Motorway, CarWow, WBAC etc and see what they'll offer you.

If i was buying a used Bentley at that price point then the only place I would consider buying one from is an independent specialist with a 12 month warranty.

The potential for (real or perceived) expensive borkage is just so high that I couldn't possibly contemplate a private sale.

Anyone running one of these has to have reasonably deep pockets to cover the fuel bills, so will largely be looking at dealers who will be a few grand more than yours, but with some built in peace of mind.

Try Cazoo.

You are never going to sell a Rolls or Bentley as quickly as a Ford Fiesta obviously.

There will be a buyer out there somewhere eventually.

Be careful with Cazoo, they're on the cusp of going bust and you wouldn't want to be in a situation where they have your car but you don't have the cash from them yet...

I sold a car to them for a very good price to them last month, no messing around, but that was last month.

Their showroom in Manchester is very impressive, but I know that doesn't mean anything.

There are so many expensive things that could go wrong with an older prestige car, its a gamble for a dealer who would have to give a warranty.

Unfortunately, in my limited experience, the best way to sell a Bentley is by... part exing for another Bentley!

I got >20% more from a Bentley dealer in part ex than I was offered by We buy Any Car.

Understand this is not the best option, but if you are looking to upgrade, it could be AN option.
Also look at some of the big dealer franchises (Sytner, HR Owen) who sell Bentleys, if you part ex your Bentley for another car/brand that the dealer is franchised for, they may still give you a decent part ex offer.
