Hi All, looking at picking up a 16,17 plate Huracan Spyder next year.

Having researched I see servicing is 9000 miles or annually and £900 - £1500 depending on which type of service it is, but I am thinking this is probably £1200 - £2000 ?

As for Lamborghini warranty, I have read / heard so much conflicting information on when it is available, whether transferrable, costs and whether they stop offering over a certain age.

Can anyone shed any real world knowledge ?

Are there any non Lamborghini warrantes worth looking at ?

Many thanks

Annual warranty extension for my MY18 Perf is £3399 plus 200 or so inspection fee when done with a service (more if not part of a service). If you 2 do years at a time it’s cheaper.

Those service costs look for a minor service. I believe year 6 is a big one so more than that. I’d shop around for the service. Prices with main dealers outside of the SE area are 35%+ cheaper with a bit of very mild haggling.

The Huracan is so reliable you should seriously consider self insuring and forget a 3rd party warranty.

That's really useful thanks

I see the car comes new with a 3 year warranty and after that they offer a selezione program

"The Warranty Extension covers cars participating in the Selezione program with an additional Lamborghini warranty of at least 12 months.
The formula covers parts and labor and guarantees the use of Original Spare Parts and the work of Lamborghini specialized technicians.
To be eligible for the Selezione program, the car must be no more than 7 years old and have no more than 43,500 Miles .
To renew the warranty, the car must pass the 150 tests of the Lamborghini checklist."

So if I pick up a 2017 model in 2024, I will not be able to get an official warranty extension ?

It’s worth asking if you renew for say 2 years before the 7 years is up if that’s covered?

I’ve had 2 Huracans over a total of 5 years and the only issues I’ve had are a sticky cup holder and the rear lights having fine white powder in a corner (very minor cosmetic). I won’t be extending this year.

Yes the engine appears bullet proof, and the gearbox whilst newer seems ok also.

It is all the other stuff though that could end up costly - chap has one in USA which has issues with reversing camera, lift, going into limp mode and door windows. Should all be covered under his warranty but adjustments and software upgrades are not always covered by warranty.....

Brave pill..... ?

It appears I might be looking at 3rd party warranty but not sure who offers them

Good point - I will take a look.

With you having run the cars for 5 years with no issues certainly strengthens the case for not having a warranty, but buying one at 8 years old... an unknown car to me ... without warranty is 'food for thought'

as far as i understood, the huracan comes in the uk with a 4 year warranty as standard

a fifth year car be bought, but it must be bought when the car is spec'd, ie order placed

the selezione programme was introduced to allow main dealers to give a factory warranty on used cars, something they could not do previously, so it is a means to promote used sales from main dealers, pretty sure you can't pitch up with a out of warranty car and get it selezioned!

You can get an out of warranty lambo on the Selezione warranty, just has to pass lambo inspection at a main dealer and stump up the cash, approx 3.4k on huracan and 6.6k on Aventador, problem is currently has to be under 7 years old and 40k miles I believe, but this may be changing to up to 10 years apparently.....

stand to be corrected but from the lambo website....

Selezione Lamborghini Certified Pre-Owned is the official program that guarantees total peace of mind and safety for new buyers of pre-owned Lamborghini cars.

new buyers... of used cars from main dealers..... surely then the only way you can get your car extended like this is sell it to main dealer, they selezione it then sell you your car back...

if anyone has walked in, got a PPI and got a new warranty on a car out of warranty, please confirm

70 Proof - yes my Aventador S was out of warranty (I let the original warranty expire without renewal), during year 5, I payed about a 1k for the official inspection, then 6.6k for the official warranty.
It was well worth it for me, as 3 months later the car needed a whole new gearbox, and it was covered without issue.
It is important that the car has full lambo history though, as I am not sure you can get the warranty without full main dealer history.
For any large claims, the first thing they check is the cars service history, then that the car is standard with no modifications.

Huracan is generally a very reliable car. As pointed out above Aventadors do seem to have common gearbox problems (I know of three) but not heard of any serious drama on Huracan. There is a lot more shared DNA with an R8.

great to hear this, i assume it was the supplying dealer with whom you had a relationship, and yes, even to extend the warranty, car must have a full dealer history as per schedule

That’s strange, I also had a sticky cup holder on my Performante, have we found the car’s Achilles heel? Only thing that ever went wrong with my car from new. Italian design and German engineering 👍

Same. Dealer offered to replace it under warranty, but they wanted the car for 2 whole days for the job. That timing didn't work for me so I removed the glovebox - it's the same method for cabin air filter change, lubed the cupholder mechanism, all fine. 15mins, although the glovebox removal is a faff.

There is/was obviously a sticky cup holder epidemic. That has been my only warranty claim on my 2017 LP610-4 which I have owned since new. When I ordered the car it included a 3 year warranty. I paid extra at the time of ordering to extend that to 5 years. I was invited to extend for years 6 and 7 last year. In the end I decided not to. It came down to whether I was likely to sell the car before its 7th birthday (as a factory warranty has obvious appeal to a potential purchaser) rather than whether I felt I was likely to make a claim.

My other Lamborghini experience was with a manual Gallardo which I bought new in 2005 and sold in 2014 at about 36,000 miles. It went back when it was brand new to have the electrical gubbins for the front lift replaced. The only other time it blotted its copy book other than 1 clutch was a faulty earth strap when 8 years old.

All in all, in my experience reliability has been impressive.
