Hello, my car is in for an oil leak fix, fortunately under warranty.

I haven't gleaned much clarity yet on the cause of the leak, but the dealer says they will have to replace several parts.

Anyone have any idea what it might be?

Unfortunately not. But I am interested in what the problem is for future reference .
Please post outcome once the repair has been done .

HI, how did you get on with the repairs / what was the issue?

It's getting fixed as we speak under warranty.

My service adviser does not seem to be very technically minded, the best I got out of them is that "one silicon seal in-between the engine bed plate where the leak seems to be coming from".

I'll ask for the technician's report once the car is fixed.

Sounds like something that would be very expensive outside of the warranty.

Those engines always look an absolute nightmare to work on and I've done a few jobs on the v10 diesel in Touareg's.

Sounds like there aren't many parts that need replacing and not expensive ones either, but a lot of the engine ancillaries need to be removed to gain excess, hence probably several hours of expensive Bentley labour rates...

Getting my car back next week, it's been off the road for a little over a month!

I pushed for a full technician's report but the below is the best I got, and I can't be bothered anymore...
"1. Removed engine and gearbox due to oil leak from engine bed plate. Stripped engine to gain access and confirmed two O-rings distorted causing oil leak. Cleaned area, fitted new O-rings . Reassembled engine using new seals and stretch bolts. Re torqued to manufactures specification. Refitted engine and gearbox to the Bentley. Carried out extended road test and checked again for any leaks. All ok. "

I'm glad the car is still covered by Bentley Warranty as it sounds like it would have been a massively expensive job, engine out and engine open!!
