Holding out for the right M2 - the struggle continues

Been on the hunt for about 6 weeks now for my ideal spec M2 competition but it's proving more difficult than I thought. Not one has came up for sale with all the bits on it since. Ideally after the following:-

Sunset Orange
DCT
Upto 30k Mileage
Both Packs
2NH BBK

I've always been picky with cars but am I being too picky and should comprimise? Or should I hang off for the right car? Have seen many pop up without the BBK but felt the blue callipers on my old M2 weren't that great. Also another one has popped up locally with Plus pack, BBK but no comfort pack.

Are these car sourcing groups worth it? Or just better to keep an eye out? Any help appreciated.

I think I have got your spec except mine is manual. Great cars and the colour is worth waiting for.

No, I have standard dampers but Eibach Springs, lowered, rose jointed and adjustable track control arms.

How you finding the setup? I had eibachs on my old M2 but felt the dampers and springs were working against each other.

Haven driven a fair few M2 Comps and OG’s I would find one that’s had some proper coilovers fitted or budget for some as it completely transforms the car unless your local roads are billiard table smooth. Having said that if your just out for bragging rights knock yourself out.

started looking at Used M2s myself.

Is 70K miles too much? official BMW retailer?

Been looking at these as well. F87 one of the best looking BMWs around.

I hate Dakota leather, but I can only see two on AT with Merino - is this a very rare option on M2C only? Or they use another type of leather like Nappa, Buffalo or something else.

The seats look like the M3 ones but in Dakota

The M2 OG or Comp were only available with Dakota leather, only the CS came with Merino.

70K miles on a car can be too many or not enough.

Depends upon how the car was used and serviced.

I have driven several cars to 70K and beyond, as in to 150K miles even one car to 317K miles. With proper -- and as is my SOP *better* than factory servicing -- and reasonable use had good experiences.

Sure as the miles climb things will need attention. With for example my 2002 Boxster at between somewhere between 70K and 90K miles the air/oil separator (AOS) failed. (Over the years the AOS proved to be a wear item and I had to replace it 2 more times about every 80K to 100K miles). The O2 sensors needed replacing. And after new tires fitted one could hear a wheel bearing.

But I have to stress with all but one car I started out from new. The Porsche 996 Turbo I bought used with <10K miles and 6 years old in pristine condition with a 2 year, 100K mile CPO warranty. My research found the car had received reasonably good servicing. So I was comfortable with the purchase of the car. Most money I had ever spent for any car and this one was a used car.

Had a lot of problems with the Turbo. But it was an outlier. I knew of other 996 Turbo owners (some owned the S model) and they had very few problems.

Best advice I can offer is confirm the car has received at least factory servicing. Oh, and is stock (and shows no signs of being mod'd then returned to stock condition. And has not accidents. Here in the US at least one car history service can fail to have recorded an accident on a car's history, so you can't rely 100% on a car's history report it is accident free. Your used car inspection will have to be up to the task of spotting signs of accident damage repair.

If all the preconditions are acceptable then give the car a thorough used car check out. A car with 70K miles that has been mistreated/abused/improperly serviced chances are it will *not* pass a thorough used car check out. But really if you can't verify some acceptable service history, no mod's, walk away. The first rule of used (or new) car buying is there is always another car.
