I had the pleasure to meet him numerous times when he lived in my locale. An absolute gentleman and always had time to talk. You’ll be missed mate. frown
Apologies for misspelling his name.

Bloody hell, 56 frown That’s far too young an age to go.

I remember him from British F3 and thinking he was a bit handy, although surprisingly, didn’t have the F1 breakthrough I’d have expected.

RIP indeed.

That is very sad news, a very good driver I saw in F3 here in the 90's and he went on to great things specially in the USA, a very young age!!

How very sad, 56 is no age at all frown

Remember seeing him in F3000 in the ‘90s, and then going on to have some success in the US, before returning to team management roles in F1.

His career highlight was drinking the milk in 2003, in a close 1-2 finish with Penske team-mate Helio Castroneves.

Gil’s father, Luc de Ferran, was an engineering director at Ford Brazil for a long time.

I had a friend who worked him with during his time in the UK and said he was very intelligent and keen to understand everything about his car. He also said he was a lovely guy and a pleasure to work with.

A sad loss. frown
