Back in Spring 1982 in Chingford East London, I used to regularly see a blue circa 1969 Shelby GT500. We had an epic tear up one day, me in my “ tweaked “ MK1 Capri 3000GT. In my minds eye I can still see the smoke poring off of the Shelbys rear tires as he booted it and it slewing sideways as it struggled to find grip. We stopped and chatted for a while, but I can’t remember the guys name or anything about the car.
Could this K registered ( imported to Britain in 1971 ) be the same car ?

I'd be fairly sure that would have been the owner of the The Winning Post american car sales outlet in Chingford 'back in the day' - can't recall his name - others on here may remember. Trevor who ran Customville before it moved from Goodmayes also had blue bodied Shelby, possibly same colour combo (and he still probably owns it) - can't recall if it was a 'vert or coupe- however it was a GT350 with a more pedestrian small block.
No disrespect to owners but 'in the day' they were hyped-up as being high performance......however so many owner spec'd the 428 CJ lump with a cruising ratio axle and auto box which took the edge off performance - manual GT500 was same spec' as equivalent Mustang CJ/SCJ428 and was a formidable performer.....stick some headers and slicks on and go drag racing.........

I well remember Winning Post, their showroom @ Chingford Hatch, but I’m not sure if the Shelby that I saw was connected to them.
A then pal was keen on a Boss 302 that they had on the front, until he saw how absolutely rotten it was !

Unless it was the guy who bought it from them that I met ?
Can you recall what year it would have been ?
They had a terrible reputation as being cowboys.
