Small video I filmed and put together about my (formerly my dads) 911 and the story behind it.

I know ive spoken to and met some of you active on here so thought it was worth a share.

Unfortunately the way the chassis is laid out means lots of water catchment areas. I always blast mine up then down a dual carriageway near me before putting it away after cleaning.

From the golden era of real 911s, when they were bought by the cognoscenti to use as intended, which often included commuting in the week and racing at weekends.

At that time many people didn’t ‘get’ the 911 thing.
It was considered too small and austere for the money. Big Mercs, Jags, Jensens, Astons, and the various Italiana, looked more exotic and exuded more status.
They also often boasted more power and performance figures than they could not actually achieve.
In truth, the understated 911 was faster, better handling, more reliable and more practical than its, then, higher profile competitors.

And don’t be deterred by the stories of rust. It afflicted most cars of that era, and the 911s were gradually improved with galvanising and design.
Looked after, with some running repairs, these cars can provide lasting and rewarding enjoyment, where the driver is in command, not multifarious driver aids.

It makes a lot more sense to have 2nd and 3rd in the same plane once you are out in Welsh B roads or similar. A real pain in stop start traffic though......

Great story and video.

I was curious of the mileage as it seems like it's been properly used. Shows as no MOT since 2018 on gov.uk - is it exempt now?

EDIT: I'll answer that myself - of course it is, comfortably!!!!

Rolled over 86k last weekend! Not ticked over 100k yet. Its more used now but tbh it was on and off the road for 10-15 years when I was younger

A lovely film and story. Thanks for posting. One day I might let my son have my 911, which I have owned for 20 years now, but he shows no interest whatsoever in cars.
