Charging point location

Has anyone put a Ctek lead anywhere outside their car? Fortunately mine had enough left in the battery to open the door so I could charge through the cigarette lighter but as there is a spare socket going to O rings to attach directly to the battery it may as well be used. It has a rubber cover/plug to protect it but so did the original Anderson However as its much smaller i was wondering if there's a more sheltered location.

Thanks. I already have the leads which came with the Ctek mxs5. They are a Ctek specific plug to O ring battery terminal. It's a question as where to put them. As you know the area around the wheel arch/ battery gets peppered with road grime which finds its way into every nook and cranny.

I will shortly be doing the charger lead as the whole ctec is just sat on the passanger footwell. I have purchased a european cig lighter skt waterproof bulkhead type. The area between the rear No plate lights seems to be a good spot to drill into the boot & fit the skt. The charger will live on the garage wall to the rear of the car. Obviously a pair of cables need running through the car to the battery. The skt will not be seen from behind the car & is waterproof so should work ok i hope. Fused at 30A & correct size cable will meen i can use this skt for not just charging the car but for 12v vac & tyre inflator etc.

I think half the problem with the anderson is having a rubber cover on it. As it's upside down, moisture can run down the cables and build up inside. Mine wasn't physically damaged when it decided to connect both sides of the battery together for a laugh!

I use the CTEK bolt on charge leads with the battery condition LEDs. CTEK 56-382

I then tuck the connector out of the way near the battery shelf. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to keep it secure out of the way.

Thanks Dalamar. My leads aren't as long as that so will need extending, but knowing they can be tucked out of the way helps.
