Bought on a whim in the Christmas Steam Sale, I tend not to buy during early access anymore but its brilliant. I can tell there are some story type elements of the final game not complete yet but the basic factory building game is solid and feels well thought out. I was going to try and get a screenshot of my starter factory but I didn't realise how big it is and its impossible to fit it all on screen. It needs a rebuild/redesign as I have unlocked a load of stuff recently but I reckon it would take all day.

Its the first game in ages that has got me completely hooked and its my first factory type game, are there any other good ones?

Haven't played it myself but infinifactory has decent reviews and is currently free on epic, so a no risk scenario! https://epicfreegames.net/r/web/clrjeegso00dbo309x...

Factorio is excellent - https://store.steampowered.com/app/427520/Factorio...

Edited to say, you should absolutely try the demo.

I love both of them! Even bought Satisfactory twice to get away from Epic Launcher haha.

They are different kind of games to play, but if you like the building and managing the factory at larger scales, Factorio is off the charts. You can mod it and make it easier or way more difficult, or completely different tech trees and all sorts. You can also just disable the enemies (I don't have any love for that aspect) and enjoy the building.

An once you 'win' the game (goal of launching the rocket) that's just the start and being able to automate just enough to do that is considered a 'small' factory.

I will keep the recommendations in mind but I think I have a lot more hours Satisfactory to play yet. I have been deleting my starter factory again and even that is taking ages, there are so many more resources than I thought.

It needed to be done though as I have access to more coal and I have so many new alternative recipes now. I suspect it will take ages to make a new version. I also really need to learn how to do trains but that can wait until I have redone my main factory.

Love Satisfactory and I put 150hrs into it a couple of years back. I'm now waiting for the 1.0 release and campaign before I go back to it.

Meantime my head was turned by Dyson Sphere Program. Similar factory mechanics but you control a mech from an RTS-like perspective. Factories are less customisable so you haven't got the minecraft-like joy of making fancy architecture, but that's offset by the fun challenge of creating an interconnected factory and logistics system across dozens of planets. The endgame also has a lot more depth as you pile millions of resources into building Dyson spheres around multiple stars, plus PVE combat/tower defense was added recently that opens up a lot of new avenues.

Have a look: https://youtu.be/vaiRJQNfz2I?si=ST8DMrkyzkaIgbqt

On balance, I prefer DSP and would highly recommend it, but Satisfactory is also a great game!

Not played it in a while but it was a great time sink.

Had a fair few mods with loads of extra content which made it even better

I think I am at over 500 hours now and I have really enjoyed it so far but I am going to wait until the full release before playing more. I heard that there might be some rebalancing and possibly some resource nodes changing positions. I might look at some of your suggestions in the meantime.

I have been playing a little of Bulwark Falconeer Chronicles which is a strange sort of city builder game but quite enjoyable. The controls take a bit of getting used to.

There are other factory-type games like Factorio and Captain of Industry, but Satisfactory is still the best one. Looks like you're playing the single-player mode, but you should try playing multiplayer with someone. It gets even better when you collaborate with someone who is as dedicated as you are. You can host your server, but it's better to rent one to avoid the heavy load on your PC and internet connection. I use supercraft.host. They have the most stable servers I could find.
