Anyone who has even a minimal interest in music needs to subscribe to his channel.

Great in-depth analysis of some superb songs and he seems to love The Police which I also do.
I don't know where he gets the original desk tracks to isolate certain instruments but I'm glad he does.
The interviews have been great too, just waiting for Stewart Copeland to get the full house.

I love his infectious enthusiasm, which isn’t too much and not forced and his talent across the board (hearing, playing, eloquence, interviewing, editing) is very impressive.
When I say that YouTube now has better programmes than commercial TV, it’s because of channels like Rick’s.

I found the Joe Bonamassa one particularly good, especially as I'm not a huge fan, but it just showed how much they both love and know music.
The deconstructions of songs is brilliant, especially as my musical knowledge is pretty weak (blame 20 years of guitar tabs and heavy metal

)It's a great channel and I like him a lot. He seems to be a very competent guitarist with an excellent technique but I was really surprised at how ordinary his band was when he featured them recently and how conventional his own guitar playing was. Suggests that he can play almost anything you ask but cant create much himself.
I used to enjoy his 'What makes this song great' series, but it quickly devolved from being an in-depth look at the song in many aspects, to the 'Rick listens to a song and says things are "Great"'' series.
His interview with Paul Gilbert and Yngwie Malmsteen are great. In particular because he captured the most real Yngwie we've ever seen on tape, almost no ego, in a good mood and being open and humorous.
His interview with Paul showed what a master Gilbert really is, his touch and tone is superb and I can't think of anyone who has a better picking hand than him. His string skipping is absolutely ferocious. Hopefully having guys like him on the channel will show a few of the old stick-in-the-mud types what you can get out of a guitar when you put it in the hands of someone who really knows how to play.

Indeed.In the 30+ years I've been playing, his tutorials / live sets that I've read and watched are astonishing.
