KIA Ceed Sportswagon - any reason not to buy one?

So my 10 year old 181k Hyundai i40 tourer looks to be on it's last legs......
Contemplating the KIA Ceed SW 3 - 150bhp petrol.
What are peoples experience with them?
It states 50mpg combined, how realistic is this?
Hoping to sort a test drive out shortly but would appreciate any feedback both good and bad.

MrsC leased one on a "chase the deal, not the car" basis, mainly for her work, about 6 months ago. For 4 years. She absolutely hates it, and I only drive it if I absolutely have to. She had an Ateca before, and that was an immensely better car than the Ceed in every respect.

I can't remember what all the gripes are/were now altho I did list them in the leasing thread a while back, I think. Big thing for me at 6'3" is that it feels tiny inside. Even MrsC at 5'7" has to duck her head significantly to avoid hitting it when entering/exiting. For context, and I'm not humblebragging here, my DB9 is far easier for me to get in and out of.

Her Ceed is, I think, a "2" grade and it's very limited on interior spec. (No satnav, no reverse sounders, etc). The lane assist is also furiously intrusive and you can only turn it off when you get in the car - not on the move, and it reverts to On when you restart the car.

Definitely go and drive one before you commit, and if you can't find my previous comments elsewhere, I'll try and remember the rest.

The only reason I can think is the Proceed looks better and the 1.6T is starting to get cheaper

Proceed is no good as I need the height on the boot for a wheelchair - a mate has the Proceed and it definitely doesn't fit lol.

I had a 1.6CRDi from new in 2017 to early 2023 as a work wagon. It was the full Turkish Prison “1” spec, so you got Bluetooth, DAB, air-condition and remote locking, and that was your lot. Did c.80,000 miles in it. All in, cracking little thing. Never went wrong, didn’t use much fuel, used to trek across Europe 2-up and fully-laden with kit and bikes. I’d have another, just maybe with a few more toys!

Well after getting the news that my Hyundai is terminal I arranged a couple of test drives of different options, I liked the Ceed SW so I've put a deposit on this:




10 month old Ceed SW 3, collect it on Saturday.

Looks good, how does it compare to the i40?

With Kia the spec 3 are usually where the fun is at.
