I've always just replaced like for like when changing my tyres, but my car has got a sticker inside the door that says either 235/75/16 OR 255/70/16 (it has the 235s on currently) - can anyone tell me what, if any, difference it would make if I changed them all for the 255s? Currently tyre shopping and trying to widen my options to save a bit of money!

235/75 has a sidewall of 176.25mm whereas the 255/70 has a sidewall of 178.5mm so 2.25mm difference therefore negligible. I doubt very much you would notice any difference. Steering might be slightly heavier due to the extra tyre width.

I too doubt you would notice much difference, the wider tyres might be more aesthetically pleasing, maybe slightly more positive cornering.

Might be worth checking on a make/model specific forum with other owners if the wheels are the same size (width in particular) for both tyre sizes, i can't see that info being in the owner's manual.

If you haven't already looked Camskill have been the best price wise for some time of the online tyre sites, i and a good number of other Landcruiser (Prado size) onwers are running Yokohama G015 all terrains, they're winter rated all season which isn't always clear on the tyre sites, we find them a superb all rounder with superb wet grip and very well priced, mine have been on probably 7 years now still have 5mm tread with no signs of cracking or other deterioration.
