Small van Berlingo/partner/doblo etc

Looking for small van for work and tested a 19 partner 1.6 (new model). The salesman told me to avoid the 1.5 and after googling it seems the 1.5 has several problems with snapping timing chains/sprockets and injectors.
So how reliable is the last of the old 1.6 HDIs?
Or has anyone any experience with the Fiat 1.3/1.6 multijet doblo vans? Are they fairly reliable?

I have a 2005 Renault Kangoo 1.5dci. At 18 years old there isn’t a spot of rust on it, it doesn’t use any fluids, parts are for pennies, it’s quite easy to work on, returns 40-45mpg all day long. Tidy ones can be picked up for £1500.
The bad news is that it’s painfully slow.

The 1.5 diesel Renault unit found in Renaults, Dacia, Nissans and Mercedes is an entirely different unit to the 1.5 diesel found in Peugeots, Vauxhalls, Citroens, Toyotas and Fiats.
The later has already had a few revisions, buy as new as possible.
Worth remembering the 1.5 is a development of the previous 1.6 the salesman wants to sell you.

I’ve budget 5-10K so new vans are out. I don’t particularly want older stuff due to vans being generally abused and as suggested Nissans and Renaults are not that common here (N.I.)
We do have bucket loads of Berlingo/partner/combos all the same I know so really after info on the last of the 1.6 engines.
Or the doblo as I like the look of these, there’s a few up for sale over here but unsure of mechanical reliability. I think older combo is also the doblo( up to 18).

Issue with Doblo is more the suspension and components
Expect suspension issues, failed wiper motors, electrical issues,
The 1.6 diesel engines in the old Doblo (it’s now a rebadged Berlingo) seem fine to 80k / 4 years old then the usual turbo, DPF, etc issues occur.
That 1.6 diesel is not the same as the Citroen diesel, i think it’s a General Motors diesel and isn’t well though off.
