Initially I thought Akrapovič may be a little annoyed being associated with "Pops & Bangs" maps as per the email title.

Then I got to the 4th video down in their link... Wasn't expecting that from the Duke. biglaugh

Not a mail shot that came to me, I do agree that fuelling and ignition manipulation to get these sorts of noises on modern cars can be too extreme, the occasional pop or bang is OK if it’s bringing some life to a modern performance car that’s been tuned by the manufacturer to be a quiet as possible most of the time.

I must admit that as most of my cars are older they naturally make the odd ‘anti social’ noise as that’s how they were back in the day, or they are just generally louder, something that does seem to be less and less acceptable to the general population.

Ive no problem with it in performance cars. Its when its an aftermarket machine gun sound in a 1.4 that its a little obnoxious.

My car will pop and bang in sports mode but it's rarely in that setting and I feel like a 4.0 V8 can get away with it.
