Boiler Flue Extension?
Discussion
We have a Vaillant boiler (installed Nov 2022) and the flue exits right next to the fascia boards of our extension. As you can see it’s a very ugly affair hidden down the side of the house. The only problem is, when the heating is on the cold boards are getting dripping wet and rotten.
Ideally I’d like to extend the flue beyond the gutter or away from the boards. Is this possible and how? Hoping it’s as easy as an extension pipe!
Thank you

Get one of these? (screwfix)
Fitted by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
If it doesn’t work, take it back easily…
The outlet (top bit) can be turned/twisted, to kick the gases in a different direction, away from the fascia @ 45%. You can see it on a cold day.
Maybe get it turned 2-3 o’clock on yours by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer.
In reality a Gas Safe Registered Engineer can just change the existing exhaust outlet to the twisty one!
I recall that the Gas Safe Registered Engineer clicked out the exhaust outlet, the diverter then clicks in.

It’s illegal to touch a mobile phone whilst driving…..but millions of people a day do that . I’ve extended a flue before its a simple job ,couple of screws and 1 cut and its done.
Did you then test the flue integrity and that the combustion readings were correct with your callibrated Flue Gas Analyser?GasEngineer said:

Would the deflector do the job?I have the same, it kicks the plume away from side of house in my case.
The boiler fitter clicked out the outlet & clicked in the twisty part.
He did that a few days after the install.
An expensive bit of plastic but works!
Thank you for all the replies. I suppose at this stage (where I have only just noticed the issue yesterday), when I mentioned that “i’d like to extend the flue” I should really have phrased it “the flue needs to be extended”. I realise that you should never work on your own boiler and I never would but it’s interesting that this extends to the plastic cap at the end of the flue. I’m very surprised but am quite happy to get an engineer to do it.
The question was really “is getting an extension tube and slotting it on something I can do myself or do I need to get and engineer in to sort this?”. I think I have my answer

Surprisingly no i didn’t…..but it was fine for the next 5 years i lived there and then passed a gas safety test before we sold the house . But thanks for the concern.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
