I know there are a couple of people on here that have track focused MX5's.

There is plenty of standard cars about but so much rot that it can be hard to find a good one.

Is anyone selling a lightly modified nc for track use? If so let me know please.

Yeah I’ve spoke to him a bit. It’s nice but £6k for 145k miles

It's not a terrible price, given that it's had the common rust spots welded up and decent set of parts thrown at it. I suspect you'd exceed that figure to buy a standard car and modify it yourself with new parts, and probably quite a bit more if you were paying someone else to do the work. Ex-track cars seem to fetch a small premium nowadays, rather than being sold at a loss. I guess it's an increasingly popular hobby and there are more outlets to sell to like-minded buyers.

The longevity of the MZR engine doesn't really seemed to be linked to mileage. Most die because they're run low on oil, which is usually a product of them burning oil due to sticky oil control rings. Sticky rings have little correlation to mileage and seem to be most common on cars that were driven gently and serviced at the Mazda recommended intervals. If you're diligent about your oil level, and don't mind adding a little at lunchtime on a trackday there's no reason why an NC with a mild oil consumption habit won't run and produce good power until something unrelated kills it.

Looks like he's dropped the price to £5k.
