i have a radical. Every 40 hours it needs a rebuild. This is something i'm definitely not going to attempt myself, and will most likely take it to either radical or RLM.
I've googled around trying to find some principles of what goes on with an engine rebuild. I'm sure I could remove the engine and take it all apart myself, carefully following the suzuki workshop manual.
But then what? What is inspected, and what gets replaced? What parts do you check for what condition? And how would you know? (hence why i will pay someone to rebuild it, i've no idea!).

struggling to find some basic principles on it etc. for those of you who have to get your engines rebuild every so often, what gets replaced? Could you share some insight?

It really does depend upon whether any problems are identified and hence might include new crank, camshafts etc but my last build included the following

Strip, rebuild and dyno
Big end bearings
Exhaust valves
Valve springs
Timing belt
Con rod bolts
Oil stem seals
Head gasket
Sump gasket

Bearing in mind this was the 1st rebuild from an entirely new engine so in motorsport terms a bargain...

I suspect there are lots of people who could rebuild your Hayabusa ? engine and it all depends what radical will charge as to whether it is worth going futher afield - good luck

Whilst in theory anyone can rebuild an engine, some manufacturers won't work on the engine if their seals are broken, and lack of correct seals may mean disqualification from races.

I know someone with a Mercedes HWA engine had a problem and they took the cam cover off to check things before sending it to Germany for refresh, HWA almost refused to look at it and it took a lot of pleading and begging before they eventually relented .
