Help with in-line amplifier for a speaker...

Afternoon all,

My problem - I drive a taxi with a passenger/driver intercom system. Up in the front with me is a single speaker, 65-75mm. The intercom system and amplifier are not accessible. I want to add an in-line amplifier, volume control (potentiometer?) and upgrade the speaker if possible, to allow a louder output so I can hear better and clearer. I am not concerned if the speaker doesn't fit the housing as it will be positioned in a new location.

So- it's 12v. And the current signal supplies a 3W 4ohms approx 65-75mm speaker (just one).

I have access to the supply cable to this speaker, and a close by live/ground. And a void to hide everything in.

Could you help advise which are the correct components to order out of the above (or a better suggestion)? Also, which potentiometer would be compatible too. I don't mind either a knob or slide solution. The 7w mono audio amp in its tech download suggests a 47k ohm Log potentiometer, but I'm out my depth at this point.

My aim is a solution where-by I can tap into existing speaker signal and make it a little more (25%-50% ideally) louder. I hope this makes sense!

I have a zone splitter joined to my beneficiary to associate 3 extra sets of speakers in various region of my home. This isn't essential for a home theater framework; it is only for music. One sets is outside on a long wire run and the volume is no where close to equivalent to within speakers (all on discrete volume controls). Is there a method for supporting the capacity to simply this one sets of open air speakers?
