I wasn't really old enough to go full on raving and down there, I could had slept at my nans as she lived near Kemp Town.

I did go to his session at Brighton Amex though, seemed less commercial though.

ha ha if you were there for the music you didn't miss much. It starts out great with It just Won't Do and 77 strings but goes into a coma for half an hour until Love Story and then is hit and miss to the end. But it's a good watch anyway as it's with what looks like 1210's and a DJM500.

Yeh agree on set, it's like a wedding set.

The beach was at least a mile down to Brighton full of people ? Mad.

Think I was a mile away from the stage hehe it was a bit crazy as they advertised it loads in London then were shocked a tens of thousands of people got the train down…
I remember enjoying the music until the police helicopter turned up and drowned it out.

Don't live DJs essentially just play their own album from a CD player for their sets?

Some probably do, in varying degrees. A lot of the activity is performative too.

I was there in 2002. Amazing and unrepeatable night with around 250k people there. I had a relative in Kemp town so walking distance from the action. I remember walking through the town the following morning and there was rubbish everywhere. IIRC Norman footed the clean up bill.

I lived on Madeira Place back then, it was certainly a mess…

I was there too, we got on the beach at around mid-morning and the beach was already filling up.

For me it was the best day / night of live music ever. Midfield General played a good warm up set and then John Digweed played a belting set before FBS came on.

The set was pretty derivative yes (if you had seen FBS at other gigs at the time) but the sound stage was epic, people were in the moment and having your rig cage rattled by Basement Jaxx Get Me Off is an experience I’ll never forget.

We somehow got parked in the NCP on the front and were off the beach and back on our way home pretty soon after it was ended early due to Police concerns.

We also travelled down for BB4 (The Whip, Beardie Man and FBS), which was in a controlled area and just wasn’t the same.
