Just heard on 6 Music that Steve Harley has sadly passed away. Always loved him and Cockney Rebel, and saw him a couple of times at The Stables in Milton Keynes a few years back... Thanks for the music and songs..

As is often the case, I read breaking news on PH.

That's a real shame about Steve Harley - he was huge when I was a young teen.

Very sad news, no great age. frown

Last time saw him live was an acoustic set at Ronnie Scott's. Got the place alight.

RIP.

That would have been a top night. I've seen a few shows at Scott's, would have loved to have seen that one.

Harley was so cool, feel very hollow to hear he's gone.

Stripped to the Bare Bones is the album.

Playing it now.

Bit dusty here.

That's sad, saw Steve a number of times both with the Rebel and as a solo artist with Nick Pynn.
Everything from Sebastian to Love Minus Zero and beyond. Loved that Poetic Justice album, some lovely tracks on there.
RIP Steve.

Steve Harley was the soundtrack of my youth.

The Psychomodo was the very first album I bought, still got it with the original price label on (£2.20 Wells Record and Tape Centre).

Seeing him live at Bristol Colston Hall was my first proper gig and it was amazing.

Saw him again a few years ago at Norwich Waterfront and he was spell binding

RIP Steve, you were the best.

Such sad news. I was watching this only a few days ago. A fantastic version of a fantastic song.

Spent the afternoon with him once, at Ascot. We were both invited to the same corporate hospitality box, by a mutual friend who was the owner of a horse called Cockney Rebel! Nice guy. He knew way more about horse racing than I did, and gave me some tips.

I’ve loved Come Up and See Me for years. I first heard it in a Rik Mayall special called Dancing Queen. Let’s take a look at the highlights:

Rik Mayall
Martin Clunes
Steve Harley
ABBA
A 205 GTi
A Griffith 4.3
Helena Bonham Carter in her pants

Haven’t seen that film for years. I even forgot HBC was in it.
