The rear tail assembly for the reg plate, reflector and indicators isnt available from Yamaha anymore.

  • Does anyone happen to have one they would sell?
  • Can anyone recommend and good aftermarket one that isnt too tacky?
Of course back in the day we used to cut these off or remove them. Nowadays we're chasing "authenticity" and tryoing to bolt them back on!

biggrin

Fowler’s still list the rear fender at £123 incl VAT.

You might want to buy it quickly if Yamaha dealers are suggesting they’ve run out of direct stock. Or buy them out of stock and hoard them.

Good luck on the reflector bracket!! wink

I believe what I actually need is 3Y6-85130-02 and/or 4XV-85132-00. The part marked there as the rear fender is the whole undertray, isnt it? scratchchin

The bit that hangs just the reflector on (about the size of a packet of fags) is discontinued and now massively desirable for the out of the crate look. Some people are now 3D printing them and genuine ones can go for £200+. Mine sits in my toolbox and gets fitted for MoT’s.

The main mudguard that you screw your numberplate to and the standard indicators hang off is all the same the one piece undertray / fender / battery tray that you can still get.

The 2000 model year is the one with the updated sloping rear lights isn't it? (I'm asking a question I know)

I fitted a 2000 rear light, seat panel, seat pad/ front/rear. It was a bit of a faff.

This is exactly what I am finding. The 4XV vs 5JJ thing alone is a little confusing as there seems to be some crossover. I'm connected to a lad in Italy who is an absolute authority but he said exaclty what you're saying.

If not an OEM unit, who makes a good aftermarket these days?

I actually have a spare tail unit but I think its the same as the one I have. I do have the all important OEM pillion seat which is huge (the ownership, not the pillion).
