996 GT3 front drop links are they unique?
Discussion
My 996 GT3 has failed its mot with worn anti-roll bar link.
The price of front drop link 996.343.069.92 is an unbelievable £275-310. These are non adjustable and regular 996 drop links are a fraction of the price… so what is different , the dimensions of the link bar or the compound of the rubber bushing?
I prefer to always use Porsche parts but this seems unbelievable unless it is a designated motorsport item with a measurable performance impact.
Or is this a rip off ?

Hi,
Why don't you just fit adjustable drop links? They are extremely easy to make/buy - 2 rose joints (each side), a turnbuckle, a few bolts, and a couple of spacers - and will allow you to set the ARB with no pre-load.
Adjusting them is also very easy. In essence, fit one side at a decent height and then adjust the other side (with weight on the suspension) until the bolt slips through easily. You can then fine tune if need be.
I certainly wouldn't be paying £300 for a drop link...

Great minds! I'll second your point about buying good quality ones as well. On my race car I don't care too much (they get replaced quite often) but on a road car, the cheap ones get knackered in no timeSlippydiff said:
Cheers ?Aiden, it does make sense to fabricate these and McGill seem to have all the bits.Is there a spec sheet for the original Porsche drop links ? Are the bolt centres 180mm.?
I will contact McGill, and check out making these.
Many thanks
Mike
