Hi all

Whilst happily driving into Manchester this morning i passed a white van with what looked like a video camera on a tripod next to it. There was a man in a bright green jacket stood next to it but wasn't actually behind it in what i remember mobile speed traps to be used like.

Anyway, yes i was going over 30 mph (the road really should be a 40 zone anyway!). How do i know if i got caught? There was no flash, the van nor the man had any markings identifying them as police.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, it could have been a television crew you know.

Either police ANPR (uninsured drivers, unregistered cars), DVLA (no tax, driving while SORN), or VOSA (goods vehicle offences).

Sounds unlikely to be catching speeders, they rarely get out the van.

Don't think it looked as complicated. I did pass it on my way back too and the green jacket man was behind it pointing the damn thing up the road!

As for cameras catching uninsured scum, that is actually something i do approve of!

Speed camera indeed it was. White van parked up, man wasn't even dressed as a police officer. Bollocks!
